Anies Coordinates with Local Governments of Greater Jakarta Regarding PSBB Implementation

The Jakarta Government builds coordination with government bodies in Greater Jakarta area, such as Banten and West Java Provincial Government, as well as its cities and regencies government ahead of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) implementation in the COVID-19 epicenter area.

The point is, this program is not for the government, but it is carried out to protect all citizens and ensure that we can all be safe

"We need coordination related to PSBB implementation. Because this area becomes one epicenter and we need to synchronize our acts related to restrictions that will be done. Later it can be a reference, thus we can have a same pattern," stated Anies Baswedan, Jakarta Governor, in the press conference held at City Hall on Wednesday (4/8), as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.   

From this coordination, he also explained about Jakarta Governor's Regulation (Pergub) that later will be used to regulate PSBB implementation in Jakarta in detail. He hoped, this Pergub can be considered by other government in Greater Jakarta in preparing regulations related to PSBB in their respective regions.

Legislators Expect Jakartans to Comply with PSBB Policy

"Hopefully it (Pergub for PSBB) can be finished soon and citizens have the same guidelines. Insya Allah, in the near future we can inform you the details about the Pergub," he conveyed.

After Pergub for PSBB is finished, he continued, his side still needs to wait for its finalization from Central Government regarding the operation of online motorcycle taxis.

"Preparation of Pergub itself has been completed, but we need to wait for one thing, because recently we are discussing with central government related to the permission for motorcycle taxis operation. So, hopefully there will be news about it tonight," he added.

According to him, further provisions regarding the mechanism for online motorcycle taxi provisions will be announced later.

"Because there is provision which mentioned that online motorcycle taxi is not allowed to transport people. After coordinating with the operators, they said they have the mechanism. Therefore, we consider that as long as online motorcycle taxis follow the operating procedures, they can transport people and goods. We are waiting for the finalization thus later it can be included in the same provisions," he explained.

His side also asked for supports and cooperation from residents in implementing PSBB starting Friday (4/10).

"The point is, this program is not for the government, but it is carried out to protect all citizens and ensure that we can all be safe. Look at the main point of this restriction, is it comfortable? Certainly not. Is it easy? The situation is difficult, but it will be good if we do it. So, we will socialize and explain it well to the citizens," he closed.
